European Supply Chain Management: Restructured
the Materials Management/Logistics processes in a large Iberian-wide
Telecommunication client’s operations over 12 months encompassing SAP R/3
utilisation, planning, execution, warehousing, inventory levelling,
professional training and a novel format of rapid electronic data
communication between internal and supplier organisations to achieve
required material supplies. |

| Supplier Rationalisation:
Developed and implemented the appropriate supplier rationalisation strategy
resulting in a 30% key supplier reduction, partnership growth with major
commodity and equipment suppliers, and a cost reduction of £40M over two
years. |

| Settlement Negotiation:
Successfully negotiated a US$4.4M settlement and contract between three
parties. This entailed comprehensive spreadsheet modelling based on expected
MTBF levels and extensive negotiations with all involved. |

| Purchasing & Materials Management:
Organisation was restructured, coached and developed into strong
professional purchasing and Materials Management teams ultimately resulting
in inventory reducing by 80% with turns increasing from 1 to 11.4 and total
purchasing cost savings of £9.6M on a £35M p.a. spend. Highlight of the
purchasing Supply Management programme was the successful development of
supplier partnerships encompassing comprehensive Cost-Price analysis leading
to ongoing Total Cost Reduction Programmes. The resulting supply management
strategies were reviewed and commended by the Global Procurement & Supply
Benchmarking Initiative, Michigan State University, USA. |

| Purchasing Change Management:
Redefined the functionality and skill set required for Strategic Supply
Management. Sold the concept to Senior Management. Trained Team and
immediately relocated the strategic Purchasing Team next to their customers.
Introduced multi-functional Supply Management Teams including forecasting
and review processes. Captured the buy-in of all critical suppliers into
ongoing Total Cost Reduction Programmes and ultimately saved US$4.0M in an
18-month elapsed time from commencement of the Programme. |

| MRP II implementation: This
included hardware and software reviews, functionality definition, system
selection, strategy approval, MIS software verification, data accuracy
programme, establishment of a rigorous approval process for all functional
procedures interfacing with the system and user qualification process for
final access to the system. |
